He received his Ph.D. in English from Cornell University in 2011, where his dissertation was awarded the Guilford Prize for excellence in English prose. He is currently at work on a book-length project that examines the relationship between probability and realist representation in the nineteenth-century British novel, with particular attention to the novels and narrative techniques of Austen, Scott, Dickens, Trollope, and Hardy. His article on Dickens’s Martin Chuzzlewit is forthcoming in the journal Narrative.
