The Department of English is proud to announce third year graduate student Thai-Catherine Matthews is the recipient of a Gates Cambridge Scholarship. The Gates Cambridge program was established in 2000 by a $210M donation from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to Cambridge University.

Among the selection criteria is outstanding intellectual ability, leadership potential, and a commitment to improving the lives of others.
